My Personal Journey

When we talk about losing weight, it’s a very emotional subject. Being overweight can bring anguish and embarassment into everyday life, one thing is for sure, you aren’t alone. People want to look and feel the best they can for a variety of reasons. Those who carry a lot of excess stomach fat are in a higher health risk category as well.

Flat stomachs are desired worldwide, and sometimes the road to getting there can seem long and gruelling. But it really doesn’t have to be that bad. Sure, if you want to lose weight in the best, safest way and keep it off, it’s not going to happen overnight or without effort to change your lifestyle.

Some may need to increase the exercise they do, and greatly adjust the foods they eat and when they eat them. Others may need to reduce the exercise they do and increase the amount they eat. People are different and they also have different psychological reasons tied up with weight issues.

Those of us classed as obese, or like myself, morbidly obese, really have a journey of self to make along the way to permanent weight loss. But I truly believe that whether you have have your first 50 pound to lose or your last 5, if you feel you are not at your optimal weight and size, you are going to feel lousy.

I don’t think their are many people who don’t think they’d like to lose some belly fat, or get rid of love handles. For me, the catalyst finally for change was my lifestyle and children. The thing that frightened me the most, apart from finding myself at 152kg’s, was that my mobility was diminishing, the amount of time  I could be active for had lessened, and a variety of niggly health complaints had begun.

I also have a small child and two young adult children, the eldest being a girl who is maybe 15kg over her ideal weight, and my elder son also larger than any hot blooded 19yr old wants to be. I knew I had to find an answer, not only for me, but for their future. I’m an intelligent person, I understood a lot of how the body works from biology classes, and I thought I knew what foods to eat, and what to avoid.

I was basically a low fat eater, low sugar, but I ate a lot of grains, vegies and salads, pasta and brown rice as well. I ate a lot of fish and lean meats. Yearsa go I used to do daily aerobic sessions and power walking. Yes, I was doing all the right things, and trying a few methods along the way.

So how did I get to 152kg? Well it might help to know that during my fittest time, even jogging up hills with ease, I still wasn’t under 100kg. So adding all the tried and failed things up, and knowing I was doing what the food pyramid and thousands of ‘health and diet’ experts recommended, I’m a person that sticks to things I set up for myself. Yet, I could not seem to drop weight for long and the weight kept creeping up.

So that means an attitude change because we get so down about ‘failing’ that we eat whatever we want, whenever. Fast foods, quick, easy, convenient foods. Got a computer, so walk less. Friends having drinks, well why not? Can’t make me any worse. Feel like cheesecake, sure a piece or two can’t hurt. So up goes the amount of refined flours, high bad fats, sugar intake, and processed foods.

But I’ve tried the other way too, calorie counting, skipping breakfast, no food after 6pm, living on fruit and salad etc etc. Trouble is anything that has too much restriction and control is impossible to maintain, and makes you feel worse. On the other hand, anything too free was bad news too. Like a child we need some guided discipline to feel safe, and not so  much restriction it stifles us.

It just made sense to me that if everything I’d tried wasn’t working, then someone out there somewhere must have done the research on how the human body works, and have put together something that got the body functioning efficiently without restricting all of those foods I enjoyed from time to time.

One thing I knew, I couldn’t do any worse. I needed to lose weight for quality of life and to set a good example for my kids and future grandkids. but I can tell you when I look better and buy normal sized clothes I’ll be ecstatic. I’ve lost over 12kg in 8 weeks and I feel like I have this food thing under control, I know how to eat, when to eat and what to eat. I enjoy a free day a week, and if i happen to go off plan outside of that, well I’m only human. I’ll catch it back up the next day.

This is a way i got my life back and took the hassles out of food choices. I’m in the pool with my little fella for swimming lessons, and as for exercise, I walk when I can and look for ways to be more active in day to day life. Once I have lost  a good amount I’ll be working on the body sculpting exercises. Don’t be afraid you’ll end up like a bodybuilder if you don’t want to. You won’t, but you will get the body you want.

I want to spread the word and let everyone know there is hope to have the look and body you want. Whether you are looking at a large amount or want to sculpt your body, or even do both, there are experts out there that care. You’ll see my 4 favorites on this site. I haven’t tried them all but they all work on the same principals as the Bodytrim system I am on. Plus these ones are availabe in instant download so you can use them anywhere in the world.

I’ll be keeping you all informed as to my progress and keep busy bringing you the latest news regarding the truth about our bodies and weight loss
